Grafton Community Library
The little library in Grafton is right near the Grafton Lakes State Park in Rensselaer County, high in the hills. It’s 12 miles away from Troy, serving a population of about 2,000. When the previous library director resigned, the library board tried a new approach, and now the library is in collaboration with the nearby Brunswick Library and run by the same library director.
The library is cozy- one room for the main collection, with a basement area for programs. Staff uses main floor space for their work (covering books, cataloging), but it doesn’t seem cluttered or over-crowded. The children’s area invites you to browse the shelves while sitting on the beanbag chairs.
I love this idea! A table covered with different images for children to find, like the I Spy books.
