Valley Falls Library
When I told the director of Diver Library that I’d been to Valley Falls Library but not to his, he teased me. That’s because the two libraries are so close together. “I’m saving the best for last,” I said, so of course after that, the library in Schaticoke was marked as my last stop, number 36.
Valley Falls Library is very small, a little brick box. It is charming and full of crafted details, and they still fit a lot into their limited space. The circulation desk is in the center of the room. My daughter and I stopped there on our way to a concert in Saratoga (I was growled at for that later when we got stuck in traffic and had to park in secondary parking).
It’s bigger on the inside.
I love the little refreshment center they had on the windowsill!
The library has a very dedicated (and large) Board of Trustees, I met with them at the annual dinner and they filled most of a table, and they made it clear taking care of their library was a vocation and an honor.
Jane is visiting all 36 locations of the Upper Hudson Library System (see introduction)
I love the free hot drinks!! But you’d think there would be spills on the books?
