Sew a Yip-yip pouch

After several people enthusiastically shared the knitting and crochet patterns for yip-yips by Carissa Browning, I wanted to make one too. I was crunched for time, though, so I decided to reverse-engineer her design for sewing. I used scraps of fleece for the body and black cotton for the lining, and some novelty yarn for the tentacles (I think I would use thicker yarn if I did this again.) I followed the instructions for the eyes and antennae from Carissa’s pattern, they are made with ping-pong balls and pipe cleaners. For the loop I took strips of fleece and braided them, then sewed the loop into the seam. I gave this fellow to my friend, it can be used to store things.

What is a yip-yip? They are aliens who investigated things on Sesame Street. Here they are finding out what a fan is.
