I got a styrofoam head to show off my costume creations. It was pretty bland and also fragile, so I decided to upgrade it so I could use it to model hats for years to come. Advice I found online said you can’t spray paint it- it will pit and scar. One blogger said to give it a coating of glue and tissue paper, to protect it for spraying. I thought, why make it normal? It’s a head. I named it George (in honor of the song). I gave it a layer of school glue, let it dry, then put on a layer of green tissue paper. George has a weird circular thing on the back of his head, and instead of covering it up, I decided to accentuate it, like it was a computer port. Yes, apparently George is an android.
I put safety eyes in, with a bit of putty. Then I added eyebrows with a slightly confused look. I painted his face to even out the color, but now it’s a bit too jolly green giant, I might do another layer to get the color I want.
