I don’t think someone has had such trouble with a magic ring since Frodo. I keep trying to learn this crochet step, a first step in most round objects. I keep making them and somehow creating a regular knot instead of a slip knot. I did it right a couple of times by going along with tutorial videos, but I just did five in a row while watching 5 different videos and got a knot each time. I look like I’m doing the same thing, but obviously something is happening. There are workarounds, but that feels like surrendering.
Also, I should know better, but I didn’t think that crochet hook size really mattered. After all, you don’t keep the stitches on like you do for knitting, you’re just making knots, right? Yeah, no. #gaugematters. Two juggling balls- one normal size, one monstrous, because I was using the wrong size hook.

When I’m really struggling with learning, I go back to the things I do know how to do, like drawing, sewing or knitting. I’m working on a cardigan for myself, I’m using Procreate to make color-in stickers for my planner, and replenishing my stock of dinosaur badges.
